| Formal assesment happens in class regularly as scheduled below. Quizzes and exams are used to see how much of the class material students are familiar with.
|
| The weekly quizzes consist of 10-20 multiple choice or true/false questions worth one point each and a set of open ended short answer questions worth five points each.
The quizzes allow individuals students to demonstrate proficiency in specific areas by allowing students to answer only a fraction of the questions presented. This
allows students the ability to tailor the quiz to their specific interests and preferences. Quizzes ultimately count for 5% of the students overall grade. |
| The exams are given quarterly and follow the same format as quizzes but will also include questions geared towards determining a students ability to interpret
and communicate information depicted graphically. The exams are all open notebook, so it is imperative that students maintain organized and complete notebooks. This includes
the retention of all handed out material and past quizzes and exams. |
| PLEASE NOTE: While the exams are open note, the answers typically require students to process the information
in their notebook to synthesize or create an answer, not just copy an answer from one page to another. |
